Ever since becoming royalty, the Meghan Markle’s style has seen tremendous change. From a Hollywood actor to Duchess of Sussex, her sartorial tastes have obviously transformed, also keeping in mind the royal family’s strict dress code.
One of the ways Meghan has managed to follow it and maintain an elegant silhouette has been with a boat neckline. Also known as a bateau neck, this wide neckline (that meets at either side with a shape that resembles a boat) makes for a demure silhouette. Apart from her shoulder-baring outfit at The Trooping of Colour that skirted controversy for standing apart from usually sleeved royals, Meghan has stuck loyally to the boat neck.
The first and most majestic occasion where she sported the modest neckline in question was on her royal wedding day. Her Givenchy gown featured a beautiful bateau neckline, which gave a peek of her shoulders and went into three fourth sleeves.
For the Commonwealth Youth Challenge event, Meghan looked bright and beautiful in a canary yellow mid-length dress from Brandon Maxwell with nude pumps. It came with a delightful boat neck, sans any sleeves.
The next royal function of Prince Louis’s christening saw Meghan looked magnificent in a muted olive. She chose a Ralph Lauren dress with a boat shaped neckline and three fourth sleeves.
At the recent RAF100 celebrations, Meghan wore a black long sleeve pleated dress with a wide boat neckline that sat at the end of her shoulders.
Finally, for the Young Leaders awards, yet again Meghan sported the neckline in a white Prada dress with buttoned detailing for an absolutely elegant look.
Meghan maybe one of the newest members of the royal family but it seems like she’s really finding her groove with the boat neck. With every pretty outfit sporting it, we’re certain it’ll come to be her signature look.
